23 things summary

My favorite discoveries was actually creating my blog. I also learned alot of computer lingo. I thought Merlin and Wikis was fascinating. I think a liked the online productivity the best.
I think I will be able to help our patrons more with reference questions and teenagers who are researching a school project. I don't think I will personally use all the sites or tools everyday but least I have a knowledge about the different programs and other blogs I can search with.
Some of the programs that were unexpected was that you had to be very careful like online image generator some of the images was a little adult.
But overall I was very surprised I finished everything.
You could have a classroom setting for some of the people who don't know all the computer lingo. I was just fortunate to have fellow librarians to show me how to do the things and the support they gave me. The summer months were a little hectic with the summer reading program and all the activities the library does. I would have liked to have it either in the fall or winter months.
I probably would participate if you have another program but I would go it at my own leisure instead of taking it during my hours at the library.
I really learned a lot but if I'm not doing or using the sites everyday I probably will forget that they are there. So since I have completed the 23 things I will go back through and familiarize myself with it again. I will definitely use Merlin, Library Thing, and Wikis. So I have learned new things and relearned old things. I guess I am proud of myself for finishing this program.

Week 9 thing 22

I took a look at this site and wondered what it would do for me. I don't see if I will take advantage of this site. I like to sit on the front porch with a glass of Tea and watch the hummingbirds fly by while I read and also to actually turn the pages with my hands. I don't think our patrons would benefit with this unless they have a home computer to download the books since our patrons are limited to one hour on the computers. I also liked the way it had all their books listed because when I went to put in the authors that I like they weren't listed. Now School students and college students would benefit if there were a limited selection of the same title in the library that they would need to read the book for a report or something.

Week 8 thing 19

It seems I had to back track because I thought I wrote a blog for this but must not have. I seem to find this site pretty helpful especially when it is categorized. I find this site very helpful http://eventful.com/ to see what is going on in Hagerstown

Week 9 thing 21

I went under the subjest of food and there were 951 sites to see. I only did ten pages and wasn't interested in any of them. except the Farmers Almanac http://podcasts.yahoo.com/series?s=a8cec05b17d667fb4d6b97af431dc4fa I probably won't ever use this site since I don't have time to look at all there is to offer.

Week 9 Thing 20

I didn't have to look for my favorite video since I will be seeing them in concert http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7p0z1y5mg_E I am going to see if I can get the video up on my blog. The only thing I didn't like is my computer does'nt have sound. I think this is real cool for the YA user. I'm Not sure if I will ever use it for a business maybe only for pleasure seeing.

Week 8 thing 18

I really liked this site. I started with the music but could not listen to it because of no sound on my computer. I then went to Judys Book at City guides and reviews and explored what coupons and sales are in my area there weren't to many listed. I then went to Events and found this site extremely useful it had all the events listed in our area like the Leitersburg Peach Festival YUM! http://eventful.com/ this is a really good site. I wish I had more time to explore but maybe later.

Week 7 thing 17

I hope I did this o.k I don't know if it worked nothing happened when I put it under Washington County. I will go back and check it out I ran out of time. This project is really time consuming when you have limited amount of time to put out. I went back and it was a success. I HOPE

Week 7 thing 16

http://instructionwiki.org/Library_2.0_in_15_minutes_a_day I found this site extremely interesting . The wikis are great for group work and projects in any field of the library and school programs. The only thing I find it might not be reliable info you are reading but everything must always have a downfall.

Week 6 thing 13,14,and 15

A Tag is a keyword or term assoc. with or assigned to a piece of info.
Tags are chosen informally.
I couldn't get the tutorial to work so I read it. I think Del.icio would be very beneficial to businesses. I probably wouldn't use it because I'm a very limited person. I am not familiar to alot of tech talk. I think I could of used a classroom setting for this one so I will keep on learning.http://del.icio.us/tag/

Week 5 thing12

I tried Rollyo and am impressed how you can put all your favorites in one site. I put in Home and Garden and the list was really good. I also am an Emergency fan of the t.v. show that was on in the Seventies so I listed that one too and got not just dvds but other websites that listed emergency equipment and so forth. The last I searched was food and got sites for many restaurants and food recipees. I guess this site would be handy for someone who went to the one particular site but I like many sites to see what is out there

week 3 thing 7

My husband and I went to the Mountain Heretage Festival in Harpers Ferry a couple weeks ago. They had wine from different wineries from West Virginia needless to say we bought a couple bottles I have yet to aquire a taste for it. So when I looked for technology on the internet this caught my attention. Wine Industry Technology Symposium, this is a group of wine industry and technology professionals that joined forces to create WITS in 2005 to address the unique technology of the wine industry. This group is dedicated to bring the World's leading wineries, distributors, and retailers together with some of the world's leading technology experts to foster learning and discussion. The experts will discuss case studies involving wine making, vineyard management, sales and distribution and so forth. The WITS is a dedicated to furthering education in the wine industry. I thought this was interesting especially because on St. Pauls Rd there might be a wine grower in a little area in Western Maryland.

Classic Rock Rocks

I went to my first concert last July 2006 to see Def Leopard and Journey and I want to say that was the best trip my husband and I had in a long time. This year we are going to see Def Leopard, Foreigner and Styx in August. It's so nice to hear these songs and remember when they first came out in the charts. If anyone shares the same feelings please post me.
